All of the courses we deliver are aligned with the The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) which is a widely used system to describe language proficiency. It divides proficiency into six levels, from A1 (beginner) to C2 (proficient). Here’s a brief overview of each level:
A1 (Beginner)
- Listening: Can understand familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases.
- Speaking: Can use simple phrases and sentences to express needs.
- Reading: Can read and understand familiar names, words, and simple sentences.
- Writing: Can write a short, simple postcard or fill out forms with personal details.
A2 (Elementary)
- Listening: Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of immediate relevance.
- Speaking:Can communicate in simple tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information.
- Reading: Can read very short, simple texts and find specific, predictable information in simple materials.
- Writing: Can write short, simple notes and messages.
B1 (Intermediate)
- Listening: Can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters.
- Speaking: Can deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling.
- Reading: Can understand texts that consist mainly of high frequency everyday or job-related language.
- Writing: Can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.
B2 (Upper Intermediate)
- Listening: Can understand the main ideas of complex speech on both concrete and abstract topics.
- Speaking: Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity, making regular interaction with native speakers possible.
- Reading: Can read articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems in which the writers adopt particular attitudes or viewpoints.
- Writing: Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue.
C1 (Advanced)
- Listening: Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning.
- Speaking: Can produce clear, well-structured text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns.
- Reading: Can understand a wide range of long texts and recognize stylistic differences.
- Writing: Can produce clear, detailed text on complex subjects, with appropriate style.
C2 (Proficient)
- Listening: Can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read.
- Speaking: Can summarize information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts coherently.
- Reading:Can read and understand virtually all forms of the written language, including abstract, structurally or linguistically complex texts.
- Writing: Can produce clear, smoothly flowing text in an appropriate style, and can write complex letters, reports, or articles.
